SUBWAY LIGHTS are:
Gary Call - vocalist/guitarist/programmer
Alex Quinn - guitarist/programmer
Jairo Ruiz - bassist
Nathan Shelton - drummer
SUBWAY LIGHTS are a Nashville based rock band. The band's founding members, Gary Call and Alex Quinn, began writing songs for the yet to be formed band in 2012, during which time both members played around town with other local bands. Once a set of songs were written and recorded, Gary and Alex decided it was time to put a band together.
Alex's first choice was Jairo Ruiz. Formerly the bass player for Nashville's former darling punk rock band, The Worsties, Jairo was recruited after the guys got together and discovered they shared a mutual musical vision.
Nathan Shelton replaced original drummer, Art Quanstrom, in 2014. Nathan is also a former member of The Worsties. His years of performing with Jairo have had an immediate positive impact to the band's live sound, as well as in the studio.
SUBWAY LIGHTS' sound draws influence from such creative artists like The Killers, The Bravery, The Cure, David Bowie, The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, and INXS. The music is distinct, blending melodic guitar riffs against synth-pop textures, with bass and drums driving the rhythm. The vocals are resounding and melodious, completing the compelling sound of the band.
